Projects

Our Latest Projects consist of Life Cycle Analysis, Alternative Energy, Energy Reduction, Carbon Offset, and Deconstruction for manufacturing, office complex, food processing, retail industry, automotive dealership, and utility industries.

International manufacturer of home/industrial products

A Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) was performed comparing two products for environmental performance. CCES team performed the LCA following ISO Standards and utilizing “Cradle to Cradle” justification data.  Data was collected for all environmental impacts within the areas of air, water, and land. Energy and GHG were also included in all phases of the LCA including transportation from raw materials to finished product.

The manufacture is able to claim a 35.5% reduction in environmental impact for the new design of its product. The carbon offset program of CCES will also allow the manufacturer to label its product “Carbon Neutral” recently a News Release by a national TV station announced a 3% increase in its stock from the partnership of CCES in “Green Product Strategy”

Bio-Plastic Manufacturing Plant

A small manufacturing company underwent a complete life cycle analysis for its bio-based product (cradle to cradle). The process took into account the raw materials, manufacturing, production, transportation, consumers use, and end of life stage. The product has been certified as an EPP (Environmentally Preferred Purchasing) product. This allows the client to gain access to State and Federal purchasing guidelines as a product that must be purchased over competitors that has not gone through a LCA on the environmental impacts.

Energy savings through improved process will be approximately 3.68MW per year.

This company is this first to meet the California “CO2 Label” legislation in progress.

Research/Office Complex

This complex has over 160 cryogenic freezers upon one floor. The waste heat from the freezers was overwhelming the area and surrounding area businesses.

CCES project team developed a waste heat recovery system that would eliminate one domestic hot water boiler system and would eliminate the need for a new chiller system. The project also included geo-thermal, solar, and wind alternatives that would reduce energy consumption for the facility.

The energy savings is approximately 1.38MW per year.

Food Processing Industry

CCES assisted the client with reducing production costs in areas of energy, GHG, and waste food processing.
Industry had an annual energy savings (gas and electric) of 20%, translating to an estimated cost reduction of $110,000 for natural gas and $51,000 electricity.

There was an annual water savings of $34,000 due to reclamation systems capturing and reusing 3.4 million gallons of water.

The 2,300 gallons of waste oil was converted into bio-diesel for use as an alternative fuel to power the company fleet.

There was an annual reduction of more than 3 million pounds of carbon dioxide emissions resulting from the elimination of shipping lines and utilizing empty truck sharing per year.

Retail Manufacturer

CCES's team is working with a "Chinese Manufacturing" firm to perform a "Cradle to Cradle" LCA for the retail industry, this firm was looking to keep its contracts with "Retail Merchants" and continue to sell consumer products. Data is collected for all environmental impacts within all areas of air, water, and land transportation in all phases, raw materials, and manufacturing impacts.

Included is a GHG/CO2 footprint of each product. The firm is looking at offsetting the CO2 emissions for each product sold and is also looking at working with CCES on labeling there product "Carbon Neutral" through CCES offset programs.

Automotive Dealership

Dealership was seeking assistance to increase sales revenues and show their commitment to reducing CO2 emissions and create a “Green Concept” for their customers.

A program was instituted to meet the needs of its environmentally conscious customers who could not afford an electric vehicle or hybrid.  The carbon emissions were offset for their customers and a “CARBON NEUTRAL” label was produced to indicate their environmental commitment to reduce CO2 emissions.

Customers also received a certificate based on mileage offset.   During this 2-month roll-out, car sales increased over 15%.

Large Public Utility Company

This utility wanted to deconstruct rather conduct a demolition of its property. Utilizing specific deconstruction methods developed by CCES, the utility was able to reduce its “Carbon Footprint”.
Deconstruction of its facility reduced GHG/CO2 emissions by recycling the steel, brick, concrete glass, drywall, among other materials they saved the equivalent of 296 tons of iron ore, 166 tons of coal and 14 tons of limestone.

A total of about 8,529 BTUs of energy was saved, enough energy to power nearly 84 homes for one year.

CCES client reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 118 metric tons of carbon equivalent. They also reduced overall air emissions by 7 tons excluding CO2 and methane or 294 tons including CO2 and methane and reduce waterborne waste by 1.1 tons.
