Greening of Detroit Programs:
Planting trees in the City of Detroit: This program is on-going for CCES. CCES provides funds from offset programs to assist in purchasing and planting trees in Detroit. Locations can vary from urban communities, schools, parks, etc.
Hospice of Michigan. CCES provides funds from our offset programs to help with the purchase and planting of trees. These trees serve a public good by providing shade for the sidewalk and adding beauty to the area. Desired and appropriate tree types are flowering and shade trees, ornamental, and columnar-type such as English Oak or evergreen.
Detroit Market Garden: This project is planned for currently vacant land in Detroit’s Eastern Market District. The Market Garden will operate as a sustainable farm incorporating a greenhouse operated using alternative energy technologies such as geothermal and solar, as well as “hoop houses” which are passive solar greenhouses that can extend the season of almost any vegetable or small fruit crop. The Market Garden will supply local vendors and residents with plants, flowers, fruit and vegetables with the aim of promoting local urban economies and alternative energy technologies as viable and economically efficient choices. CCES plans to use funds from our GHG/CO2 offset programs to assist in purchasing these alternative energy systems.
2009 Detroit Lions Thanksgiving Game:
The Children’s Center Programs:
Energy Efficiency: CCES has performed an energy audit on all 3 buildings of Children’s with funding from customer GHG/CO2 offsets. With additional offset funding, CCES will be performing energy efficiencies to their buildings to lower their energy bills. The savings will go toward additional programs for the children and their families.
AutoGlow: Children’s Center sponsors the 2010 North American International Auto Show Charity Preview, AutoGlow. Carbon Credit Environmental Services will be offsetting the carbon emissions from this event. Offsets will go toward an energy efficient project for their buildings.
Summer Camp: CCES provided environmental projects for the Children’s Center Summer Camp. Projects included, energy audit exercises, recycling program, planted tree seedlings for the children to take home and plant, and a wind energy exercise
